Timber arrived in our kennels and has been assessed whilst there.
Timber is 6 year old handsome big boy who is full of fun. He has so much love to give and is a soppy big goofball. He's an energetic boy who loves to explore and run about.
He gets on well with other dogs and especially the ladies but can lack confidence when first meeting other dogs, especially on the lead. Taking things slowly and managing the meeting of the other dogs and it all works out.
We have discoved Timber is deaf but that doesn't hold him back. However he will need to be kept on his lead on walks for his own safety as he has no recall and will be unable to hear his owners calling him.
He really enjoys his freedom at run free fields where he is safe. He always checks in with us but enjoys a good run around and play.
He would benefit from some training, especially with a trainer who has experience of working with deaf dogs. Or an owner who has previous experience of this.
He doesnt let this hold him back and his other senses are extra sharp we feel. He uses his nose and gathers a lot of his information this way. He can tell us there's someone approaching long before they are in sight.
Timber would do best in a rural home as this is all he has ever known and would benefit havings someone around most of the time. He needs an active home with an owner who is prepared to manage the extra challenges a deaf dog brings.
They will be rewarded with a fun dog that loves to be around his family.
