Koda (B)

UPDATE - Since coming to kennels Koda has been further assessed and it has been determined that koda must be rehomed as an only dog/pet in the home.  Unfortunately Koda does not read another dogs signs well and wants to play rough and doesnt understand when the other dog says ive had enough.

We havent found Koda's off switch yet and this makes her very full on.  Her new home will need to have the same amount of energy to work with Koda and be able to stimuate her mentally and physically.  She would be best placed without kids around to try and keep her calmer.  She is very loving but full of energy with it.

Her enthusiasm when meeting people and dogs is second to none, but she hasnt really got a bad bone in her body.  She's not great at being left alone so will need someone home a lot with her.

Her new home will need to be prepared to put a fair bit of work into teaching her boundaries and obedience but she is still young enough to learn.

*******************************************************************

Koda is a bouncy young girl (1 year old) who has been with her current owner since she was 11 weeks old.  She greeted our volunteer very excitedly, jumping up to get attention, no aggression was shown.

Koda was happy when our volunteer offered her a game of tuggy, which helped to redirect her energy, she was happy to play and dropped the tuggy rope when our volunteer stood still and stopped tugging. She did settle and was happy to be touched and stroked.

Our volunteer went along with her current owner and Koda on a walk to the local park. Koda was very excited to be out on her walk, her owner uses a halti style lead as she does pull. Koda walked passed cars and didn’t react. She watched 2 joggers run past, she didn’t react, she also walked past children and adults without reaction. When she saw a passing dog, there was no reaction but she
was keen to go and say hello.  She also walked past a garden with 2 barking dogs in it without any reaction.

Her owner has said that she has jumped up at people previously because she thinks she can get attention from them, but this wasn’t witnessed on the walk. This is likely to be over exciting puppy behaviour and can easily be worked on.

Koda has chewed curtains and cables when her owner has been out, so she is now crated. She is also known to bark when her owner is out.

Koda is used to travelling in the car.

Koda is being rehomed as her owner went with the heart and not the head decision when getting her and is struggling to cope with such a young powerful dog and feels she would be better in a home which has GSD experience with someone who can work on her training and set her a few boundaries.
