Maui is a black and tan boy with a long silky coat, who was born in May
2017. He is friendly around most people but slightly wary of men that he
does not know. He is great with kids, his own family, their friends
visiting and those that come up to him outside.
Maui will bark at strangers arriving at his home but has never shown
any aggression and will allow them in when told it is OK. He is
currently walked in a halti and does pull initially but then settles to
walk and sniff. He is interested in dogs that he sees, loves to play
when allowed, but will walk on when told. He sometimes barks at other
dogs but usually only if they bark first or stand to stare at him. _
Maui is fully house trained and knows basic commands, he can be left
for short periods with no problems. He likes to go in the car and
settles well. Maui is generally calm in the house and will settle on
his bed with a chew or a toy (which he loves to destroy). He can be
boisterous if there is a lot of lively playing going on.
Maui had a bad experience with a groomer and now does not like his feet
being touched although his current owner can trim them. New owners would
need to take things slowly to build up trust with Maui who also needs a
regular ear cleaning routine as he is prone to a build-up of wax. Once
he is fully settled new owners will need to arrange for Maui to be
neutered.
Maui is a much-loved pet who is being reluctantly re-homed because
recent changes to living arrangements mean he is now restricted to 2
rooms and does not have the access to a garden and open countryside that
he has been used to. His owner is taking him on plenty of lead walks but
feels it would be in Maui's best interest to find a new home where he
can go back to having the freedom of the house and surrounds that he was
used to.
