Ruben is a lovely black and tan boy who has had a tough start to his short life. Ruben has just arrived in our kennels so we are still getting to know him.
Despite his sad start Ruben is starting to enjoy getting out and about, he gets excited when it's time to go out of his kennel and can get a bit mouthy but there is no malice in him, this is being worked on but may return in a new home with new excitements. When he is out he is really unfazed by other dogs. He recently visited a local park with our volunteers and met a variety of animals which he showed no interest in.
Ruben hasn't had much interaction with other dogs but whilst in our kennels he has met the owners bitch and was quite excitable until she put him in his place. He was then calm and respectful of her. He will continue to be slowly introduced to other dogs but initial assessments would indicate he appears fine with other dogs but may need to learn some manners.
Ruben walks nicely on his lead and is enjoying all the new sniffs he can investigate on his walks. Everything is new to him and he is really taking it all in his stride.
He loved playing in the river so it would seem he is a water baby too.
Ruben's only qualm so far seems to be high Vis jackets whichs he's not overly keen on so his new owner will need to do a bit of work with that to let him see good things can come from Hi Viz.
It is unknown how Ruben will be in a home environment as we have not been able to assess him in this situation, but he seems to be a lovely boy who we feel will adjust to new situations. He will need guidance and patience but we are sure you will be rewarded with a super boy
