Mia

Mia

When our last girl (Bonnie) passed away, I thought 'that's it'. I personally couldn't take the heartbreak again. I ended up going out for my usual walks, on my own, but it was never the same. However as the time passed, my wife and I knew that something was missing from our lives. There had been GSD's in our home for over 20 years and the void was clearly evident. As time passed, my wife suggested GSD Rescue Scotland, and I tentatively looked at the website. We were drawn to one particular girl. For me there was something about her look. She was long haired and had a really mischievous face. Our last two girls were smooth haired, but my wife was adamant that this time we would have a long haired girl. We contacted the service and had a visit from Amy with her beautiful GSD. I knew then we needed to have another four legged companion running about the place. We travelled down to see our girl, met with her, and stayed overnight. David (the volunteer) was extremely helpful and very knowledgeable. At no time were we pressurised into taking her home. However I was smitten from the word go, and Mia came home with us. What a joy she has been. The home is alive again. Mia is getting regular exercise, and is now looking fit and healthy. My wife spends lots of time grooming her, which Mia seems to enjoy (must be a girl thing). Mia is still a bit jumpy with other dogs, when out for our walks, but we are working on that. We have had regular calls from Dorothy, which has been very helpful and reassuring. Everyone from the Rescue Service has been so supportive, and we now have a lovely new addition to the family . Success all round.
